Artist Research: Christian Dimitrov
Christian Dimitrov
Dimitrov is an underrated Bulgarian concept artist and illustrator, however, he specializes in concept art for environments. Considering my theme for the term has a lot of environmental art, his work will be good inference for my pieces.
The second piece I am analyzing titled By the River is vastly different from the first piece there is a lot more architecture and infrastructure in this piece. I think this piece is very useful as a reference for my work on the Castle as there is clear attention to detail in the form and structure of the building. depth is still a recurring and important theme in this piece he has also gone for a dark and less enthusiastic piece here. Additionally, he continues to use a wide variety of plants ranging from trees to grass and different types of flowers to bring more life to the work. He has also added a clear reflection of light to the surface of the water however it is interesting this time because we are looking from an above-water perspective rather than an underwater perspective. there is also a glimpse of light which distantly this creates drama in the piece over the building.
To conclude it is clear from his work as a concept artist that attention to detail is very precise and important in looking at the bigger picture and the smaller picture is nearly just as important when creating fantasy-like artwork.
